Hanover, MD (December 5, 2024) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Scott G. Hodgdon as general counsel at Anaergia, Inc, a global leader in sustainable solutions for clean energy production and conversion of waste streams to resources. The search was led by Joanna Herman, partner and Thanh Nguyen, managing director with MLA’s In-House Legal Recruiting group based in Southern California.
As general counsel, Scott will serve as the primary legal advisor for the company, leading a global legal and compliance team. His key responsibilities will include managing legal strategy, overseeing transactions, handling securities reporting, and ensuring compliance. Additionally, he will focus on project financing, governmental incentives, environmental markets, corporate structure, tax, and other regulatory matters. Scott will work closely with the board of directors, senior management, strategic partners, and governmental entities.

Before joining Anaergia, Scott was a corporate, securities, and governance attorney for several publicly traded companies, including Boston Scientific, NetScout, and Pepco Holdings. He has served as an attorney-advisor in the Division of Corporation Finance for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and early on in his career was a corporate associate at two large international law firms, Skadden Arps and Morrison & Foerster LLP. Most recently, he served as general counsel and corporate secretary of Shift Technologies, Inc.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the College of William and Mary, a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, from Babson College and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
