Hanover, MD (December 7, 2021) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Scott Levin as chief legal officer, chief people officer and corporate secretary at Atlas Power Group, LLC. The search was conducted by Michael Sachs, in Chicago, and Deborah Thompson, in Philadelphia, both partners with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group.
Scott will oversee Atlas’s human resources and legal functions as the company continues to build on its next generation data center footprint. He will act as senior legal advisor to the board of directors, chief executive officer, senior management and other business leaders, evaluating and guiding the company’s acquisitions, financing, strategic alternatives and risk mitigation.
Atlas Power is one of North America’s premier data center operators, with diverse capabilities including cryptocurrency mining (Ethereum and Bitcoin) and plans to expand into hosting and high-performance computing (i.e., AI, machine learning, etc.) services for third parties.
“Scott will be a tremendous addition to the Atlas Power team. He brings a very robust background with respect to counseling dynamic, entrepreneurial and growing companies and has a business savvy and solutions orientation that will be highly valuable to this organization,” said Mike Sachs. “We are excited to see the future accomplishments of both Scott and Atlas Power over the coming months and years,” added Deb Thompson.
Scott is a seasoned corporate executive with over 25 years of experience, holding CEO, general counsel and human resource leadership roles in start-up, turn around and public company business environments. Prior to joining Atlas, Scott held several executive positions at FTD Companies, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTD), a publicly held premier floral and gifting company, most recently as the vice chairman, chief administrative officer and general counsel for FTD, LLC following the August 2019 going-private transaction with Nexus Capital Management. Scott started with FTD as its general counsel when the company went public in 2013 and was appointed interim CEO by the board of directors in July 2018 to manage a board-mandated review of strategic alternatives. Scott’s background also includes general counsel roles at Coskata, Inc. (a Blackstone-owned technology leader in renewable fuels and bio-based chemicals), Morton’s Restaurant Group Inc. (a publicly held restaurant holding company), Torex Retail Americas (a global technology solutions provider), and OurHouse, Inc. (the home improvement e-commerce business for Ace Hardware Corporation). He began his legal career as a corporate associate with Otterbourg, Steindler, Houston & Rosen and also worked at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP in New York City where he practiced in the mergers and acquisitions, securities, and finance areas. Scott earned his J.D. from The George Washington University National Law Center and his B.A. from Boston College.
