MLA Places Lara Thane as General Counsel, Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at Envoy Global

Hanover, MD (January 19, 2022) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced the placement of Lara Thane as general counsel, chief compliance and privacy officer at Envoy Global. The search was led by Michael Sachs, partner with MLA’s In-House Counsel Recruiting group in Chicago.

Founded in 1998, Envoy is a global immigration services provider offering the only immigration management platform that makes it seamless for companies to hire and manage an international workforce.

Reporting to President & CEO Dick Burke, Lara will oversee all legal and regulatory compliance matters and serve as the primary legal advisor to the organization. She will be responsible for negotiating and drafting a broad range of complex commercial contracts, handling risk management (especially as related to privacy-related matters), advising on transactional and other matters, managing employment matters, handling marketing and advertising, and providing advice and counsel on all other legal issues facing the company.

Lara most recently served as chief privacy officer and lead counsel for StoneX Group’s retail division following the acquisition of GAIN Capital by StoneX Group, a diversified financial service firm and Fortune 100 company. Prior to the acquisition, she served as head of legal, Americas for GAIN Capital. Before joining GAIN Capital, Lara spent several years with The Dannon Company as a business development counsel. She began her legal career as a corporate and securities associate with Pepper Hamilton. Lara earned her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law, her M.B.A. from Villanova University School of Business and her B.A. from Wagner College.
