MLA Places Bret DiMarco as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Agilent Technologies Inc.

Hanover, MD (September 19, 2024) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Bret DiMarco as chief legal officer and corporate secretary with Agilent Technologies Inc, the S&P 500 global company that provides instruments, software, services and consumables for laboratories. The search was led by Jay Kim, partner and Anna Gorodetsky, managing director with MLA’s In-House Legal Recruiting group based in San Francisco.

As chief legal officer, Bret will oversee a large global team of attorneys while functioning as critical, strategic, and trusted advisor to the C-Suite, board of directors, and business executives in assessing legal, compliance and related risks and overseeing all legal functions of the company.

Bret joins Agilent from Coherent, Inc, where he was executive vice president, chief legal officer, and corporate secretary. He is an adjunct assistant professor of law at the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco where he focuses on corporations, merger and acquisitions and advanced corporate law. In addition, he is the chair of the Nasdaq Exchange Nominating Committee, the independent council established by Nasdaq to recommend members to serve on the boards of its exchanges and has previously served as chair of the Nasdaq Listing and Hearings Council, the independent council advising the Nasdaq board on all changes to listing standards, SEC rule impacts and final appellate body for any de-listing or other actions related to listed companies.

Bret earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and his B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
