MLA places Rachel Stock as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer with HGGC

Hanover, MD (August 7, 2024) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world's leading legal search firm, has announced the placement of Rachel Stock as general counsel and chief compliance officer at HGGC, a leading middle-market private equity firm with over $6.9 billion in cumulative capital commitments. The search was conducted by Dimitri Mastrocola, partner, and Anna Gorodetsky, managing director, with MLA's In-House Counsel Recruiting team in New York and San Francisco.

As general counsel and chief compliance officer, Rachel will serve as the principal legal advisor with overall responsibility for the vision and leadership of the firm's legal strategy. In this role, she will oversee the delivery of legal services to HGGC deal teams and investment activities, while also serving as legal advisor to senior management.

Rachel joins HGGC from Hellman & Friedman LLC, where she served in the legal team for over a decade, most recently as managing director, legal. In this role, she was responsible for legal matters in North America related to prospective investments and portfolio companies. Prior to that, she was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.

Rachel earned her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was a James Kent Scholar and Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review. She received her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
