Hanover, MD (February 26, 2019) — Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA), the world’s leading legal search firm, today announced that Stephen Valdes-Robles has been placed as senior counsel, corporate services at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Arlington, Virginia. The search was led by managing partner Brian T. Davis and Rosalind Dodd, managing director, both of MLA’s In-House Practice Group in New York.
In his new role, Stephen will be responsible for providing legal advice and direction on complex matters to assigned TNC programs, including structuring, drafting and negotiating investment fund and direct debt and equity investment documentation and advising on U.S. securities law compliance. The Nature Conservancy is the leading conservation organization working to make a positive impact around the world in more than 69 countries, all 50 United States and your backyard.

Before joining TNC, Stephen spent the last 15 years working as an attorney in both the public and the private sector in nine countries and on five continents. He most recently served as legal officer with The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he successfully tackled complex legal and regulatory issues in locations around the world while assessing risk and providing actionable strategic advice to clients. Steve’s background also includes five years as an associate with Cleary, Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, focusing on capital markets and M&A transactions. He started his career as a visiting international attorney with Barros Letelier y Compania.
