B.S.: Beyond Stereotypes · BSing with Nona Lee

Nona Lee grew up loving sports, competing in the Junior Olympics for swimming and playing basketball at Pepperdine University, where she earned a bachelor's in broadcasting. She then received her Juris Doctor, graduating Summa Cum Laude and was awarded "Graduate of the Year." She holds certifications in Leadership for Corporate Counsel from Harvard and DEI from Cornell.

Combining her legal practice with her passion for sports, she became the first-ever Associate General Counsel for the Phoenix Suns and later founded the Phoenix Women’s Sports Association to empower girls and women through sports.

Lee then became the first VP and General Counsel for the Arizona Diamondbacks, one of only three women to hold such a position in Major League Baseball and the only openly gay black woman in an Exec VP role across all 30 MLB clubs when she left in 2022.

Facing racism and discrimination throughout her life, Lee founded Truth DEI Consulting to help organizations and leaders with DEI strategies. She empowers them to understand the benefits of an inclusive team and to develop strategies to improve their culture and bottom line.
