Bouncing Back with Dan Huynh

The Great Recession hit graduating law school students hard even if they already had an offer on the table. The firm that Dan Huynh was set to start with ended up deferring his (and many others) start to March 2010—six months later than expected. In this episode of Bouncing Back, Dan chats with Rebecca Glatzer about how he found odd jobs to fill the gap and how he then refocused his original practice plans to work his way into the practice of law.

Bouncing Back · A Chat with Dan Huynh

As Morris, Manning & Martin’s Chief Diversity Partner and Co-Chair of the Intellectual Property practice, Dan Huynh serves many roles both inside and outside of MMM. Dan is recognized as a rising leader in the profession and provides his clients with results-driven and value-oriented representation.

Dan represents companies of all sizes in various technology sectors including wireless telecommunications, e-commerce, and financial payment systems. He assists these companies with intellectual property and commercial matters, including patent, trademark, and other IP disputes, and has experience with Section 337 investigations before the International Trade Commission, as well as district court litigations before federal courts across the United States. In addition, Dan advises clients on the creation, development, and management of IP portfolios, the acquisition and exploitation of IP rights through licensing or litigation, and the preparation of invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. Dan also counsels clients on IP due diligence through the evaluation of client and competitor portfolios.

A first-generation attorney, Dan spends his time outside the practice of law fostering the growth of minority attorneys at MMM, in his community and throughout the United States. He took over leadership of the firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Initiative in 2020 and became the Chief Diversity Partner in 2023. In this role, Dan creates and manages DEI initiatives related to recruitment, development, retention, professional well-being, and promotion of diverse attorneys and staff, monitors progress of DEI initiatives to measure progress and advise on improvements and oversees various DEI certifications including Mansfield Certification and the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index.
